Generational Difference of Number of Siblings Based on Survey Data of a Small City Elderly , Fitting Poisson Distribution -


Abstract
This study has been performed to analyze generational difference of the number of siblings between elderly parents and their children. The results are drawn as follows: First, the number of siblings showing the largest gap between the two generations is two; 18% of parents and 11.2% of children generation have two siblings. Second rate of few sibling households is higher for parent generation, while the rate of many sibligs is higher for the child generaton, due to babyboom during late 50s- early 60s_ Third, the childbeating period devreases from eldrly parents to child generation; the mean value shaply decreases from 13.04 to 6.83 years.
